The Membership Cascading feature in Wicket Member™️ aims to simplify membership administration by automatically replicating memberships from parent to child organizations, and automatically creating membership assignments for people with an active Relationship to a member organization.
What problem is Membership Cascading solving?
Within Wicket, Organization hierarchy can be set using the "Parent Organization" field on a profile.
Wicket can be configured to allow membership added to a Parent organization to cascade down to all Child organizations automatically. In addition, any Person with an active Relationship to any of the organizations will be given a membership assignment.
The membership cascading can be configured for all membership tiers in your Wicket install, or only specific tiers. This can save administrators time when managing membership for related organizations.

How does Membership Cascading work?
Organization Membership Cascading
Within Wicket admin, configure the Parent/child hierarchy for the organizations. First, create your Organizations and use the "Parent Organization" field to create the connection. See the article Add an Organization for more instructions.
Next, on the Parent organization, add the desired membership tier.
The membership will be applied to the Parent organization, and will also then cascade to any Child organizations.
If the Parent organization's membership tier is updated, such as a different tier or end date, this will also cascade to any Child organizations and person membership assignments.
Person Membership Cascading
For any People records that have an active relationship to the Child org, they will receive membership assignments when the cascading is triggered from the Parent org. The Start and End dates will match those of the org's membership.
If the Parent organization's membership tier is updated, such as a different tier or end date, this will also cascade to any Child organizations and person membership assignments.
Membership Cascading with Max Seat Assignments
When an organization has maximum seat assignments set, the membership cascade behaviour is impacted to account for the limited seats.
If the maximum seats are reach, there is no space remaining for new memberships. In this case, active relationships will not receive a membership.
When a membership ends and a seat becomes available, an active relationships that has not received a membership will now be granted with a membership. There is an automated check that runs hourly (around the 30 minute mark) to backfill the membership. If multiple relationships are awaiting a membership, the membership will be granted to the relationship with the oldest start date. It is possible that new relationships could be added before the automated backfill runs which could take the seat.
Max seats are not enforced for time periods in the past, so any number of inactive relationships can be added which will receive an inactive memberships.
